Here Is Why Ashwin And Jadeja Are Not A Part Of The Upcoming Australia Series

The Indian squad for the upcoming series against Australia just got announced yesterday and once again there were no Ravichandran Ashwin or Ravindra Jadeja. While Ashwin has been playing county cricket in England, there are talks going on that the selectors are in a mood to give more chances to wrist spinners like Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel along and Yuvvendra Chahal.

Considering a not very impressive record in England of Ashwin and Jadeja, and with former really not resting when given rest, the cricket pundits were not really convinced by the Board’s explanation. However, the Board came up with another explanation last night in which they maintained their stand of resting their players and focusing on rotation policy to increase their bench strength.

The Chairman Of Selectors quoted, ” The team for the three ODI’s has been selected in line with the rotation policy of the board and accordingly¬†R.Ashwin and R. Jadeja have been rested. The team’s performance during the Sri Lanka tour has been outstanding and players like Axar Patel and Chahal who have performed very well are being given an extended run “.

The official also cleared the air about Yuvraj Singh by stating that the left-hander’s fitness is not up-to the mark and as per the Captain and Coach of the Indian Team, fitness is a top priority. He also cited the example of all the Australian players who regularly score a perfect 21 in their Yo- Yo test.

It would be interesting to see how the selectors play this if Kuldeep, Axar, and Chahal continue to impress. Will they still bring back Ashwin and Jadeja considering they are the first choice or will it be a fight for the duo to make their way back to the Playing X1?

Cric Crak Feels, whatever the case might be all this indeed proves that India has a great bench strength with a lot of spinners and for the first time in their history even a battery of fast bowlers. We would love to know your point of view on this one and your thoughts on Ashwin and Jadeja being rested.
