Bangladesh has finally won their first Test Match in the history of the game against Australia and the reaction of their Prime Minister Shiekh Hasina said it all. Bangladesh has been playing International cricket for a while now and is desperate to change their tags from just a team, who could upset the big boys on a given day.
There were looking confident from the outset of this ODI series as their coach Chandika Hathurusinga expressed his desire to win the series 2-0. On the other hand, their star all rounder Shakib- Al- Hasan quoted, “if we play good cricket, we are unbeatable at home”. The fact that they dared to make these statements against a strong Australian team said a lot about their confidence and desire to win.
A few might say, they have always been more talk and no action but the fact remains that they have started to back it up by strong performances. There is no denying that Bangladesh has become a force to reckon with not only at home but also outside the subcontinent as well. They recently proved so by making the Semi Final of the 2017 Champions Trophy in England.
Moving on, they have got off to a great start in their hopeful 2- 0 campaign by ticking the first box by a thrilling 20 run win. From coming back from 10- 3 and finishing it in 4 days speaks volumes about their character. On the other hand, Australia will take a lot of confidence from the fact that they were quite close themselves. 20 runs is a very narrow margin and they fought till the end like true champions.
Yes, defeat is always a bitter pill to swallow but they would be eager to go a step further in the next game after getting a hang of the conditions. Unfortunately for them their star fast bowler Josh Hazlewood injured himself during the second innings and will take no further part in the Bangladesh series.

Not only that, he has also been ruled out for the upcoming Australia tour of India. The men in yellow have announced an immediate replacement for him as Stephen O’Keefe will immediately fly down to Australia to take his place in the second test match. This will be a big blow for Australia as they are already trailing 1-0 in a 2 match series. On the contrary, with no disrespect to Mr. Hazlewood who Cric Crak feels is absolutely brilliant it might be a blessing in disguise for Australia with another spinner coming in.
Looking at the conditions, that’s what the doctor might have ordered. We hope to see another closely fought Test Cricket between 2 very good teams. Test matches like these keep the beauty of Test Cricket intact and they are surely an absolute pleasure to watch.
