There is some very sad news for all Sri Lankan fans as one of their best players has decided to resign after the India Series. Sanath Jayasuriya, who is now also their chief selector, will quit the post along with his entire team, once the India series is over. Jayasuriya and team would be in charge till the T20 against India before bowing out.
It is a little surprising that they made this decision considering their contract was just extended 2 months ago until the end of the year. This sudden decision which has been made in between the One Day Series against India, clearly shows that all is not well in the Sri Lankan cricket camp.

The other members who will call it a day along with Jayasuriya are Ranjith Madurasinghe, Romesh Kaluwitharana, Asanka Gurusinha and Eric Upashantha. According to ESPN Cricinfo, they have already submitted their letter to the sports minister Dayasiri Jayasekara. Sanath Jayasuriya has also publically defended him and his entire team by stressing on the fact that the Sri Lankan team in the recent past have suffered many injuries which have deeply affected theirs on field performances.
We are glad that the entire resignation was done in a nice manner without any public exchange of words. This is the way it should be, and this is the way it was. We hope this change brings some good to Sri Lanka cricket as they are definitely a much better side than this.
