The Board Of Control For Cricket In India ( BCCI) recently announced their 15 man squad for the all-important ICC Champions Trophy.
Team India will start their campaign on the 4th of June against arch rivals Pakistan, which is without a doubt expected to be the Box- Office match of the tournament. The tickets for the game have been sold way in advance and it is expected that the Indo- Pak clash would have maximum digital viewership ever for a cricket match! The men in green lead India in the Champions trophy tally with winning 2 encounters out of 3 the teams have played against each other. The last time these 2 teams met though, was in 2013 where India sealed a comfortable 8 wicket victory.
The squad is as follows:
Virat (C), Shikhar, Rohit, Rahane, MSD (wk), Yuvraj, Kedar, Hardik, Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami, Umesh, Bhuvi, Bumrah & Manish
India were joint winners of the trophy with Srilanka in 2002 and won the most recently concluded CT in 2013 where they held their nerve and managed to topple England in their own backyard in a rain- affected the match. Interestingly, the champions trophy is again in England this year and the defending champions ( Team India) led by Virat Kohli would be looking to go all guns- blazing and defend their title this time around.
In addition to the Much- Awaited Ind- Pak game, the men in blue will also face the mighty Sri Lankans on the 8th of June and a very very dangerous South Africa on the 11th of June respectively.
Cric- Crak believes in Déjà vu and would love to see Captain Kohli follow the footsteps of the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni and make India Champions for the Third Time in the history of the tournament. If they manage to do that, they will overtake Australia, who has also won the trophy twice till now.
Cric Crak is looking forward to a Cric- Craking Champions Trophy Ahead!
