We have some really interesting news for you here. This blog will surely make your day. What if we tell you that in the recently concluded Ranji Trophy an Indian Cricketer literally played for free? Yes, you read that right. Apparently, he did not take any match fee at all.
Wasim Jaffer who represented Vidarbha this season did not charge a single amount and this news was confirmed by the man himself. The reason for this is that he decided to do this as a goodwill gesture for his new team. When asked, the right-handed batsman stated that he had a deal with Vidarbha last season where they decided to pay him in 3 installments.
Unfortunately he got injured in October for which he was not paid but he was fit as a fiddle in Jan and March but the team did not use his services for the one day tournaments but still respected the fact that they were in a contract with Jaffer and paid him the entire sum even though he did not play a single match.
As a result, he decided to extend his services for free this year and in the end helped his team win the tournament for the first time in the history of Ranji Trophy. He finished the season was 595 runs at a whopping average of almost 55.
