Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Sohil Tanvir is known for his wrong-footed action which has troubled a lot of batsmen over the years. He isn’t a one-trick pony though and often uses the long handle to good effect while batting. He gave a reminder of his batting talent in a closely contested CPL match between St Lucia Zouks and Barbados Tridents on 31st July 2015.
Playing for the Zouks, Tanvir’s unbeaten knock of 50 off just 19 balls gave a glimpse of his brilliant ball-striking ability. He spanked six sixes and lifted his team up from a precarious position while batting first in the contest. Coming to bat at 100/5, the southpaws attacking batting took the Zouks to 167/7 at the end of 20 overs. He also took one wicket however his team lost this closely fought encounter by 3 wickets as the Tridents scampered home with just 2 balls to spare.
Sohail Tanvir loves to swing his bat on the leg side and he did so with great effect in his cameo which frustrated the Tridents to no end. The Rawalpindi born all-rounder has had a successful career in the shorter versions of the game and will want to continue the same in years to come. In recent times, he has been in and out of the Pakistani team and will look to make a mark in T20 Tournaments across the world and force his way back in the national side.
