Virender Sehwag Feels That No One Can Replace This Indian Player Till The 2019 World Cup

A lot of critics in the recent past have been calling for Mahendra Singh Dhoni to retire but the man just like always ,has let the bat do the talking all over again. He has been in sensational form and has already helped India finish 2 games out of 3 in the ongoing One Day International series against Sri Lanka. The only reason he did not finish the first game was because he did not get to bat as fortunately for the men in blue, they only lost 1 wicket.

The Team India management has often spoken about the fact that they are looking at players who could contribute to the World Cup which is to be held in England in 2019 and it is almost certain that Dhoni would be the wicket- keeper batsman who would be sitting on that jet place to London.

With age just being another number in modern day cricket, and fitness being the main parameter to judge a player, Dhoni is still one of the fittest India have. He always passes the yo- yo test with flying colours and there is no doubt that there is nobody faster than him between or behind the wickets.

Virender Sehwag when asked by the PTI quoted, “I don’t think anyone can replace Dhoni at this point of time. Rishabh Pant is good but he will also take time to replace him. But that can only happen after 2019. It’s then when we should think about Dhoni’s replacement. Till then let Pant gain experience. We should not worry about if Dhoni is scoring runs or not . We should only pray that MS Dhoni is fit till the 2019 World Cup. The experience that he has in the middle and the lower middle order, no one has that.”, he added.

” Like life the beauty of sport is that no two periods are identical .You will have to deal with it. There are days when you make runs and there will be a dry spell. Like in business every year you don’t make profits. Discussions happen among everybody. When we pick ,when we talk about combinations , we talk about everybody. Whenever a player keeps ageing, for example I was just reading Agassi’s book, Open, his life actually started after 30 years. Till won he only won 2 or 3 titles. His actual life started after that. He lived with media pressure but he played till 36 and won many grand slams”, said the former right handed opening batsman from India.

Cric Crak feels that with the kind of form Dhoni is in at the moment, and with the experience he has in the middle, Virat Kohli would be eager to include him in the scheme of things for the 2019 World Cup. He might not give us a 40 ball 80 each time he comes into bat but then the calmness he gets to the crease surely enables the entire team to do give their best which is more than valuable .
