VVS Laxman, also known as “ Very Very special Laxman “ is fondly remembered for his wristy drives and elegant strokeplay. There was hardly a better sight in world cricket than Laxman artistically caressing it in the gap between the fielders in the infield.
The southpaw from Hyderabad loved to set a date with the mighty Aussies more often than not and had a phenomenal record against the men in yellow. Just like the current Indian test captain Virat Kohli, Laxman too in his playing days was at his sublime best against Australia. He surely had a special liking towards the Aussie bowlers, so much that after India’s historic success in 2003- 2004, the Australians themselves admitted that they did not have any idea as to where to bowl to him
Laxman had scored 2 magnificent centuries on that tour and was also involved in a 300 run partnership with the ‘ Great Wall Of India’ Rahul Dravid. This video features a glimpse from where it all started at the Adelaide Oval in 1999 where Laxman was hit on his head by a Glenn McGrath bouncer. What happens next will surely make you feel that the world is a nicer place!
Cric- Crak is in aww after watching this video and will always remember Laxman as an all-time Test Great.
They say they don’t make such Players like him anymore. They are RIGHT we Feel 🙂.
