For starters, we are all happy today that India won the toss and decided to bat first. We finally got to see a bit of entertainment with all due respect to Sri Lanka who has not been able to put any kind of competitive score on the board in the first 3 One Day Internationals. India, on the other hand, has been chasing the low totals quite easily in the end.
It all started today with India winning the toss. They lost Shikhar Dhawan unusually early and in came captain Virat Kohli. What we saw for the next few hours was something really special by the 2 greats of the game- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Kohli and Rohit Sharma were in the middle of a beautiful partnership and half the country was already talking about a possible double century on the cards for the Indian captain.
Sri Lanka’s stand in captain Lasith Malinga dashed all Indian hopes when he got Virat Kohli caught by Munaweera while he was at 131 which unfortunately broke the 219 run stand between Sharma and Kohli. This also happened to be the 300th One Day International wicket for Lasith Malinga and his Indian Counterpart Rohit Sharma surely did not forget that.
After Kohli’s wicket, Rohit Sharma especially walked up to the fast bowler and gave him a warm bear hug.
