It’s look more and more likely that that India is all set to tour Australia and defend the Border Gavaskar trophy at the end of the year. The Australian board has even come out with the schedule, including the Pink ball test in Adelaide.
After a dismal showing in the tests against New Zealand, the Indian team management will be a little bit concerned as the next upcoming project doesn’t get any easier either. Knowing Virat Kohli and the amount of pride he takes in his personal and the team’s performance, expect a fair few changes to the squad.
We at Cric Crak are proposing 3 players who might face the axe from the playing 11.
1) Prithvi Shaw – While it would be unfair to judge the youngster on the basis of 3 bad innings in New Zealand, the fact remains that Rohit is the incumbent opener and will straight away get drafted into the playing 11. Shaw, in fact made a brisk half century in the second test and might hold onto a place in the squad. There is no doubt that if he keeps his head at the right place and remains fit, the child prodigy has a bright future ahead.
2) Wriddhiman Saha – The Bengal wicketkeeper is without a doubt the most solid keeper in the country. His competitor Rishab Pant is still work in progress as far as glove work is concerned. However, in countries like Australia, where pitches have true bounce and there’s not much spin on offer, wicket keeping is a relatively easier job. It’s the batting where Pant scores over Saha and his century in the previous tour would still be fresh in Virat’s mind.
3) Ravichandran Ashwin – The recent trend in India’s overseas tests has been that they start the series with Ashwin and by the end of the series, the Tamil Nadu all rounder found himself either injured or dropped. One won’t be surprised if this time the team starts the series with the exceptional Jadeja. At every given opportunity, Ravindrasinh Jadeja has proved his worth and never disappointed his skipper.
