Ever since Ben Stokes came out with the excerpts of his book, ‘On Fire’ which states that he was really surprised with India and specially Dhoni’s approach in the game. Even at that time it had drawn sharp reactions from the likes of Waqar Younis and other Pakistani experts as Pakistan’s qualification was dependent on an India win. Recently Sikandar Bakht, former Pak cricketer took umbrage under the Stokes book to drive home the point that there was clearly lack of intent from Dhoni.

While, Dhoni is too private a person and too big a personality to defend himself or take on wild charges from across the border, Stokes did come out and defend his former Rising Pune Supergiants captain. He said that his words had been misconstrued and twisted, just for clickbait by some people. Now, Mushtaq Ahmed, the former Pakistan leggie, who was with the West Indian camp for the 2019 World Cup campaign has made a huge revelation.

“I was working with the West Indies squad at last year’s World Cup. After India’s loss to England, Jason Holder, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell said to me, Mushy, India didn’t want to see Pakistan qualify for the semi-finals,” Mushtaq Ahmed told Pakistani news channel ARY Sports. Till now none of these three players have accepted or denied saying this.
