Aakash Chopra is one of the leading cricket experts going around in India. His sharp analysis and a penchant for numbers is what sets him apart from your everyday armchair critic. Chopra has represented India at the highest level, and while he couldn’t sustain himself there for long, his technique was water tight.
In the recent past, it has become a trend of sorts to come up with all time 11’s and best 11’s. The successful YouTuber that he is, Aakash Chopra decided to join the bandwagon and came up with the current World Test XI, based on the stats in the last two years. While there were some surprising omissions like Kane Williamson and inclusions like Joe Root, the former Delhi batsman stuck his neck out.
For the opening spot he shunned Dimuth Karunaratne’s recent consistency and Rohit’s form at home. Chopra went with Mayank Agarwal and Tom Latham. The middle order comprised of Steve Smith, Virat Kohli and Joe Root. Kohli would also lead his team. The all rounder’s spot was reserved for Ben Stokes, while Quinton De Kock would man the gloves. For the three fast bowlers, the former KKR player went with Neil Wagner, Jasprit Bumrah and Pat Cummins, along with Nathan Lyon as the spinner.
