There is still uncertainty about the vaccine for Covid-19 and while the whole world is working on it, even the most optimistic of forecasts are predicting early to mid next year. For this period the ICC has come up with a new set of guidelines which ensure player safety, like no usage of saliva on the ball, amongst other things. The ICC’s FTP has also been severely impacted.
The World Test Championship final was scheduled to be played in June 2021, but due to the cancellation of all series leading upto that, ICC may have to take out a wall to wall schedule, which might mean that countries have to be prepared to make a seperate T20 and Test team, should the formats collide. Former Indian fast bowler, Ajit Agarkar who was rumoured to be the next chief selector, has picked an Indian team for both formats.
Ajit Agarkar’s Test team – Prithvi Shaw, Mayank Agarwal, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Vihari, Rishab Pant (wk), Ravi Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma, Mohammed Shami, Shubnam Gill (12th man)
Ajit Agarkar’s T20 team – Rohit Sharma (c), KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvaneshwar Kumar, Kuldeep Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Yuzvendra Chahal, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur (12th man)
