Ashish Nehra is a well travelled man in the IPL and has played for 5 franchises. He recently revealed why he thought CSK and Mumbai Indians were consistent in their performances, while a team like RCB has struggled. It must be noted that Nehra has played for CSK and MI and has been involved in the RCB support staff for the last couple of years.
That gives him an insight like no one else. Ashish Nehra said that forming a core group was the most important factor in the whistle podu army’s success. “Since IPL is such a short tournament, the coach, the players and the captain need to be together for few seasons to understand each other. After that you start getting results,” he said.
He also said that after 2010 even Mumbai realised that consistency of selection is the mantra for success. The Delhi born pacer said that the consistency in RCB lacks from the very top of the tree. “RCB have always had a strong team but still they have struggled. The management changed three years ago and it has now changed again. I feel the management there has a long way to go when it comes to cricket. But in India, everyone has an opinion on cricket and they have it too,” he said.
