Australian Captain Aaron Finch believes that the T20 World Cup could be postponed by a couple of months

The terror of the Covid-19 pandemic has gripped the entire world and it has brought all economic activity to a standstill. The worst affected industry has been the sport and events industry as by definition it requires a large crowd to gather in one place, which is quite the opposite of social distancing.

With the IPL most likely not taking place, it is the 2020 World T20 originally scheduled to commence in October in Australia that is now under the scanner. The ICC board members have already met and discussed the matter in March and another meeting to this tune will be held shortly.

IPL 2020 suspended till further notice

Meanwhile, Australian Captain has weighed in with his opinion while speaking with SEN radio. He said “I think we might have to get our heads around a T20 World Cup that might be postponed for a month, two months, three months, whatever it has to be.”

Unlike his best mate and ex-flatmate Glenn Maxwell, Finch believes that the tournament could go ahead behind closed doors. “As long as we can get live sport up and running. Whether that’s with crowds or not, I don’t think that makes any difference to the players,” the Victorian added.
