Babar Azam is one of the most sought after batsman in modern day cricket. Although, he’s not much of a talker but his records more than make up for that. Babar is currently the only International batsman to be in the Top 5 rankings in all formats. He has been the numero uno T20I batsman for a while now.
His ODI record is also second to none and the inevitable comparisons with Virat Kohli have already started. It was really his sudden burst of centuries in Test Cricket in the last 12-18 months that has really catapulted Babar’s name amongst the Smiths, Williamsons and Kohlis. He comfortably has one of the most eye pleasing cover drives in the game today.
He recently was asked to pick a combined Indo-Pak T20I XI. He went with the obvious opening pairing of Rohit and himself. Number 3 would expectedly be reserved for Virat Kohli. He picked an experienced middle order in Shoaib Malik and MS Dhoni. Spiced it up with two young and spirited all rounders in Hardik and Shadab. The Pakistan captain chose Shaheen Afridi, Mohammed Amir and Jasprit Bumrah as his 3 man pace attack. The spinners spot was taken by Kuldeep Yadav. All in all the team had a good mixture of youthful exuberance and experience.
