Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is a household name in Indian Cricket and his big booming inswingers captured the imagination of Indian Cricket fans since his debut against Pakistan in 2012. Although he has been more out than in the team in the last 12-18 months, owing to injury, he is a mainstay when it comes to limited overs bowling. In fact, with Bumrah not being at his best after his back issues, India have dearly missed him, especially in the death overs.
Bhuvaneshwar made a name for himself before playing International cricket for being the only bowler to get Sachin out for a duck in domestic first class cricket. When your first class career spans 25 years, then it is amazing that you’ve been dismissed for a duck just once. However, what’s better is being the only one to get the master for a 0 and Bhuvi can forever wear that badge.
In a recent interaction with Women cricketers, Jemimah Rodriguez and Smriti Mandhana, Bhuvaneshwar however gave the entire credit to his Uttar Pradesh captain, Mohammed Kaif. “Generally you think to claim wickets before the start of any game, but you don’t plan to bag a certain number of wickets as it’s not possible. But when it comes to Sachin’s wicket, then I would say I was lucky because the position where Sachin got out was neither short leg nor mid-wicket, so the credit goes to Mohammad Kaif who was my captain at that time. He set the field, and I just bowled an inswinger, and eventually, it happened,” the SRH bowler said.
