The star Indian all-rounder proved why many believe he could be the link which will solve India’s jigsaw puzzle in the upcoming World T20 scheduled to be held in October-November in Australia later this year. The swashbuckling cricketer has been out of the Indian team for almost a year owing to a devastating back injury that forced him to undergo surgery.
On his comeback, Pandya has been super impressive in the ongoing DY Patil T20 tournament. Playing for Reliance 1, the right-hander has been smashing the white leather to all parts and has already amassed to centuries and a five-for. Both the centuries were scored at an amazing strike rate, while the first one came off 37 balls, he took 39 balls in the second one. In fact, on the second occasion, the Baroda lad went one up and scored a mind-boggling 158*(55) which also happens to be the highest individual score by an Indian in T20s.
Pandya was in god zone and smashed a breathtaking 20 sixes along with 6 fours on his way to the 158. This not only augurs well for his IPL franchise, but also the Indian team in a crucial World T20 year. It will be interesting to see if he can continue the heroics against a resurgent South Africa.
