2020 hasn’t been the best of years for India and indeed the entire world. The terror of Covid-19 still persists, with the earliest estimates of a vaccine being available is end of the year. However, that’s not the only problem that India finds itself in currently. The loss of 20 soldiers in the Galwan valley clash with Chinese soldiers came as another shocker for the nation.
By all reports a similar number of casualties were faced by the Chinese army although they haven’t quite come out with the exact number. Due to the border skirmish, there is a movement in India where citizens are shunning Chinese products. In fact, if the tensions rise further, then maybe the government itself may ban Chinese goods.
The BCCI is keeping a close watch on the proceedings as the title sponsorship of the IPL is held by Vivo, which is a Chinese firm. BCCI treasurer, Arun Dhumal stated that should such a policy be introduced by the Government of India, the BCCI will fully back the decision and would take action accordingly. While we hope that peace and tranquility prevails, but the tensions don’t seem to be easing off.
