The honourable Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation yesterday at 8pm in order to spread awareness about the novel Coronavirus and its potential destructive ability. During his speech which lasted exactly half an hour, the Prime Minister started by highlighting the gravity of the situation just to put things in perspective.
Mr Modi stated that this global pandemic is a huge challenge to mankind around the globe and has adversely affected more people than the two World Wars. Apart from encouraging people to practice social distancing, he also resquested the countrymen to be alert and attentive. In his speech the Prime Minister also alerted the countrymen to avoid panicking and assured them that the supply of basic necessities like milk, food items etc would not be hampered.
The PM also announced a ‘Janata curfew’ on the 22nd of March where people should avoid stepping out of the house from 7am to 9pm. He urged all influential Indians to spread this message. The cricket fraternity responded very well to the PMO and everyone from Virat Kohli to Ravi Shastri took to their social media and spread the message.
Also, special mention to all the medical professionals in the country and around the globe for all the efforts being put in to fight the #CoronaVirus. Let's support them by taking care of ourself and everybody around us by maintaining good personal hygeine. #IndiaFightsCorona
