With the Covid-19 pandemic reaching stage 3 in India, the number of cases each day keeps piling on and that has forced the Prime Minister to extend the lockdown till the 3rd of May. This means that all economic activity will be brought to a standstill.
The BCCI had earlier postponed the start of IPL 2020 to 15th April from its original commencement date of 29th March. With the lockdown now extended, it was obvious that the IPL wouldn’t have started in mid April and everyone was expecting an official statement from the BCCI.
In a latest development, one of the franchise owners has confirmed that they have been intimated by the board about the indefinite postponement of the cash-rich league. The slither of hope remains that the tournament hasn’t been called off and if things were to drastically improve, the IPL might be played in a small window around July.
