England’s pace sensation Jofra Archer has been cleared to resume training, having successfully undergone surgery to remove glass fragment from his hand. The athlete will return to light training having got a go-ahead from his medical consultant. However, there is still uncertainty over his availability for IPL 2021.
“He will return to light training this week, working closely with the Sussex and England men’s medical teams,” the ECB said in a statement.
Archer underwent surgery on March 29, after returning from England’s tour of India. The tall fast bowler suffered the freak injury while cleaning his fish tank. A troubled elbow didn’t help matters either as he had to miss the ODI leg of the tour. Archer plays for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. The champions of the inaugural season, lost to Punjab Kings narrowly in their tournament opener. The side will take on Delhi Capitals on Thursday. Team director Kumar Sangakkara has said that he hopes to see Archer take part in the league at some point. He also added that Archer’s return won’t be forced.
