This Covid season is the season of ex-players reminiscing about the past and one way to do that is to come up with all time 11’s. There’s huge debate about these all time 11’s and like two economists would never suggest the same economic strategy, two fans or experts would rarely come up with exactly the same 11 group of players. There is such a vast group of fabulous players to choose from, that there is bound to be a debate.
This time ex-South African and Mumbai Indians’ player JP Duminy has come up with his IPL 11. Interestingly, it’s a far cry from the usual and therefore forget MS Dhoni being captain, he couldn’t find a place in the team. Duminy has just gone for two Indians and even Mr IPL, Suresh Raina couldn’t find a place in the 11. Having said that, one look at his team and you would surely agree it’s a strong team that can take on anyone.
The other interesting part was that even though Rohit is in the team, JP preferred Virat as the captain of this star-studded line up. For his openers he went with Gilchrist and Gayle. First drop, Rohit, followed by Virat and De Villiers. Then two West Indian all rounders in Russell and Pollard. His bowling line up included Brett Lee, Murali, Maling and Tahir. Wow, this team would start favourites against any T20 team.
Duminy’s IPL 11 – Chrish Gayle, Adam Gilchrist (wk), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, AB De Villiers, Andre Russell, Keiron Pollard, Brett Lee, Lasith Malinga, Mutthiah Muralitharan, Imran Tahir.
