Ever since Glenn Maxwell has opened up about his mental health issues, the topic has been discussed at length in the cricketing world. People associated with the game have come a long way from the time when Jonathan Trott was made fun of while stepping away from the game due to psychological issues.
Since then, Will Pucovski, another Victorian has opened up about the same problem. Recently, Virat Kohli backed Maxwell and credited him for showing the courage. He also added that India still has a long way to go as far as the discussion around the topic being normal is concerned.
Now, even MSD has backed Kohli and said that in India people have not come to terms with the problem. He said “In India, I feel there is still a big issue of accepting that there is some weakness when it comes to the mental aspects, but we generally term it as mental illness.”
“Nobody really says that, when I go to bat, the first 5 to 10 deliveries my heart rate is elevated, I feel the pressure, I feel a bit scared because that’s how everybody feels – how to cope with that?” the Jharkhand-born mentioned.
