The will he, won’t he debate about MS Dhoni hanging his boots in International cricket continues as it’s now been a 9 month sabbatical for the former Indian captain. His fans were eagerly waiting for the IPL as that would have given a clear picture as far as the form of the wicketkeeper batsman is concerned.
In addition to that, Ravi Shastri has already publicly stated that a great IPL would have well and truly put the CSK skipper in contention for national selection. Although if recent reports are to be believed, then ICC is seriously considering postponing the World T20 that is scheduled to be held in Australia in October.
On the condition of anonymity, a current senior cricketer and a colleague of Dhoni has said “He will take a call probably after the next year’s IPL on how to go about things in the T20 league.” The same player went on to say,
“Now there is no motivation to play anymore. When there are people he feels who can replace him, he doesn’t want to block their chances.”
