Just like Mumbai has a habit of producing one great batsman after the other, Pakistan has the same sort of track record when it comes to fast bowlers. The two young sensations who’ve recently showed some spark are Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah. The latter has been garnering special publicity due to his ability to bowl at a very quick pace.
Although, many dispute his age, the 17 year old bowler was thrown to the deep end last year in his debut on the unforgettable tour of Australia. The Aussies plundered Pakistan and whitewashed the series, 2-0. Naseem was one bowler who looked raw but showed some spark. In the subsequent test series against Sri Lanka at home, he really came to the fore and troubled the Lankans with his pace and accuracy.
Touted as the next big thing in Pakistan, Shah in a recent interview had said that he respects Virat Kohli but wouldn’t be intimidated by him. He was also asked to name the top 3 batsman who would form his dream hat trick and he shunned Virat’s name. The three batsman he chose were England’s Joe Root, Rohit Sharma and Steve Smith. We can’t wait for a Kohli be Naseem Shah battle.
