Currently the world is going through a tough time owing to the crisis caused by Covid-19 pandemic. The highly mutant virus has well and truly put a dead stop to all economic activity around the globe and the sport and tourism industry is probably the most affected.
Even in India, the entire country is undergoing a lockdown for almost a month now and the future of IPL looks meek and the tournament has already been indefinitely postponed. In a latest development, Sourav Ganguly has confirmed what most cricket fans feared and denied any possibility of Cricket in India in the near future.
Ganguly was recently asked that like Germany, who are mulling to start the Bundesliga football league behind closed doors, if BCCI had any such plans. The former India skipper was categorical in his response and said, “The social reality of Germany and India are different, there will be no cricket in India in the near future. There are too many ifs and buts involved. I don’t believe in sport when there is a risk to human life.”
