Our rivals during my playing days were not India – Imran Khan


The cricketing rivalry between India and Pakistan is of epic proportions and with each passing World Cup the juggernaut keeps on getting bigger and bigger. The clash of the sub-continental arch rivals is one of the most watched events in the world and comparable to the El Classico.

While India completely dominates Pakistan in World Cup encounters , it is the men in green who have an overall lead in Odis played head to head. Most of it is thanks to their record in the 80s and mid 90s as since the turn of the millennium, there is hardly any doubt that India is the better team.

One of the most iconic players to come out of Pakistan has been their only World Cup winning captain and current Prime Minister Imran Khan. In a recent interaction, he made a big statement about India in the 80s. He said “I used to feel sorry for the Indian team because we beat them so often. They were under a lot of pressure. When I used to go to toss with their captain, I’d look at his face & he would be looking scared. Our rivals in those days weren’t India.
