Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw has set a new record as he hit six consecutive fours in an over in the ongoing IPL 2021. The youngster belted Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Shivam Mavi for 25 runs in an over to set the tone of the game. Delhi are chasing a competitive total of 155 against Eoin Morgan’s men.
Shaw hit the first ball over the bowlers head and followed it up with a flick over mid-wicket.He placed the next couple of deliveries towards the sweeper cover and stamped his authority by going over the top through the covers to make it an expensive over.
Shaw has been in news since topping the charts in Vijay Hazare Trophy. The right-hand batsman amassed plenty of runs to knock the selectors door after being dropped for his poor show in Test cricket. His current form has helped Delhi get off to flying starts in the ongoing IPL. Shaw got to his fifty in mere 18 balls and stitched 132-run stand with Shikhar Dhawan for the first wicket.
Mavi, who looked promising the previous game, proved to to be costly with the ball on the eventful night. Shaw became only the second cricketer in IPL history to hit six consecutive fours in an over. His 18-ball fifty is also the fastest fifty of this season.
