India pacer Buvneshwar Kumar is one of the seasoned cricketers when it comes to the pacer bowling department. He has got many skills up his arsenal and provided key breakthroughs throughout his career. However, injuries have often dampened his case and derailed his progress.
Earlier this year, the bowler underwent a sports hernia surgery and since then he has taken part in a handful of competitive games. He was named in the squad to face the visiting South Africa team. However, the first ODI was washed out in Dharamshala due to rain while the remaining games were canceled amid the coronavirus outbreak.
Many cricketers have found peace in certain initiatives during the lockdown. Bhuvneshwar recently revealed his wish to open an academy to nurture promising talents. The Meerut-born cricketer wants to give something back to his city.
“I want to open an academy in Meerut because it has given me so much. I just want to give it back to the people over there. That is something I am going to do for sure,” Bhuvi said in a webinar organised by GainAccess Sports & Entertainment and SportzPower.
Moving on, he also expressed his views on having a biopic on his career. According to him Bollywood actor Rajkumar Rao, who is well known for his unconventional characters, would be best suited for to play the protagonist.
“Once somebody suggested that Rajkummar Rao has a lot of similarities with me in terms of physical appearance. So he could play my role in my biopic,” he said. The pacer is key to the Hyderabad-based franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL. He has in fact led the side in the absence of some of the big names. If the cash-rich tournament takes place later this year, Bhuvneshwar would be raring to make a point.
