Rishabh Pant comes up with a new trick to avoid over-rate fine

Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant is learning on the job and growing into an absolute leader.

The youngster kickstarted his captaincy career with a thumping victory over Chennai Super Kings. On Thursday, Pant was seen coming up with fresh ideas in order to defend a modest total of 147 against Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai.

Pant was in no mood to receive a fine for slow over rate and hence, he was seen marshalling his troops in an efficient manner. Earlier, MS Dhoni was fined INR 12 lakh for maintaining slow-over rate in a match this season. During Rajasthan’s chase at the Wankhede, the umpires stopped play at one point to check whether there were more fielders outside the 30-yard circle. Pant was quick to remind the umpire that he is playing no part in wasting time and hence put out a gentle reminder to carry on with the game.

“That’s 1 minute being taken by you, umpire,” Pant told the on-field umpire. Delhi failed to defend the target as Chris Morris proved to be too good on the given night. Tom Curran went for plenty in the final over which costed them the game. Pant looked to be in good touch as he hit a stroke for a half-century before falling short off the crease.
