Sachin Tendulkar is the closest thing to batting perfection. These are the words used to describe Tendulkar by none other than the original Little Master and Sachin’s hero, Sunil Gavaskar. While that may be true, everyone has their follies and weaknesses. In a recent interaction, the Master Blaster was asked about the toughest bowler he faced.
The response was unexpected to say the least. For someone who dominated the likes of Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and gave nightmares to the great Shane Warne, the Mumbaikar’s pick left everyone bemused. He chose former South African captain and a part-time bowler, Hansie Cronje as the toughest bowler he had faced in his long and illustrious career.
The Master said, “Whenever Hansie came onto bowl, I would be extra vigilant. I would also speak to my partner at the other end and say that I would face Donald and Pollock, you please take care of Hansie. He has got me out so many times and the lines and lengths he bowled were very nagging”.
