Shahid Khan Afridi might be one of the most loved Pakistani cricketers in India but his recent statements certainly might make the jury in India re-think. In his memoir, Gamechanger, Afridi had pretty mixed opinions as far as the Indian Cricketers were concerned.
While he was glad that he scored his 37 ball century against Sri Lanka back in 1996 with Sachin Tendulkar’s bat who he hugely admired, he seemed quote gutted with the likes of Ifran Pathan and Gautam Gambhir. Gauti and Afridi can never be friends- Can they? Afridi absolutely slammed the veteran from India and made sure to let everyone know how much he hated him!
The former Pakistani player who retired many times and still might come back ( pun intended) quoted, ” (Gautam Gambhir) and his attitude problem. He, who has no personality. He, who is barely a character in the great scheme of cricket. He, who has no great records, just a lot of attitude. He, who behaves like he’s a cross between Don Bradman and James Bond”. Afridi also expressed his disappointment towards Virender Sehwag’s frankness via the micro-blogging site Twitter and requested him to behave more responsibility (Cric Crak asks- But what about your Govermement Mr. Afridi?, Sehwag is only speaking the truth)
The 40-year-old also threw some light on his rivalry with the Baroda born blue-eyed Irfan Pathan. “In my heyday, the rivalry with Irfan Pathan was instinctive. There can only be one Pathan on the field. In a jungle, there’s one lion. The other one is a lioness, or perhaps, a cub.”, Afridi added. He also recalled the good old days while he used to hang out with the Indian team when Mohammad Azharuddin was the captain. While everyone might have their own opinion the author personally disagrees with Mr. Afridi. Having said that, he doesn’t hate him either considering all the charity work he has been doing amid the Coronavirus crisis. #stayhome #staysafe
