India has won the 4 match test series in Australia 2-1. They become the first ever Asian team in history to win a series down under. The Indians have been touring Australia since independence and this is the first time they have come out victorious in the Tests. That is why Kohli called this the proudest moment of his entire cricket career. Before this, they have managed to draw a series in Australia twice, the latest being in 2003/04 under the leadership of Sourav Ganguly.
That team had superstars like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman. This team has superstars like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, and Jasprit Bumrah. Cheteshwar Pujara stood out with his performance with the bat. He scored more than 500 runs and was adjudged the man of the series. He put out a Tweet thanking his fans after to which former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly replied. He said that this is what teams played for and that it was a tremendous win by the Indians. He told the boys to enjoy every moment of it and congratulated the entire unit. It must be said that it was under the leadership of ‘Dada’ when the Indians learned to start winning abroad and now they are making it a habit.
It's been such a wonderful few weeks in Australia, something that has become historic! Every second the team put has paid off so well. Thank you all for the love and wishes pouring in. It's been an overwhelming day, a day I'll cherish for the rest of my life! #TeamIndia #INDvAUS pic.twitter.com/oQAqTCVtHE
