With the Covid pandemic gripping the world and having a catastrophic effect on the sporting and event industry, including cricket, the ICC has their work cutout to prepare for the future. It looks highly unlikely that the T20 World Cup will take place this year after hosts Australia issued a statement saying that organising the event this year will be ‘unrealistic’.
However, till it’s not officially called off, cricket fans still have a glimmer of hope and that’s why experts and fans both have been predicting India’s squad for the tournament. Recently, Kerala fast bowler, Sreesanth weighed in on the debate when he named his predicted squad for the event. True to his reputation, the playing XI he picked was quite unique with a lot of surprises.
The right armer in the what can be called as the biggest surprise, didn’t pick the in form KL Rahul. He instead went with Rohit and either one of Sanju Samson or Shikhar Dhawan to partner him. While Virat expectedly was put at number three, he went with the experienced duo of Dhoni and Raina as his middle order.
Sreesanth had the two all rounders Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja slated in next. He overlooked Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal to go with Harbhajan Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Navdeep Saini as his bowlers. He also didn’t forget to mention his own name as the 12th man.
