Shanthakumaran Sreesanth is a well-known name in the Indian house-hold. From dancing down the track and hitting Proteas pacer Andre Nel for a towering six at the Wanderers to rattling Matthew Hayden’s timber in India’s victorious  2007 World T20 campaign- the flamboyant cricketer etched his name in the record books for good.

He is now set to make a comeback to competitive cricket. In his words, it’s a ‘debut’. The 37-year-old is eager to make a point with the up-right seam position and intensity just like the good old days. In a candid interaction with Ishan Sharma on Cric Crak Conversations, the speedster was put to test as he picked his current- IPL XI.

S.Sreesanth’s IPL XI:

Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli (VC), Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni (C), AB de Villiers, Andre Russell, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Mitchell Starc, Jasprit Bumrah

Interestingly, Sreesanth picked himself as the 12th man in the team and insisted that certain changes are possible next season as he gears up to make his bid for a national call-up. He also added that Andre Russell could bat anywhere in the XI depending on the match situation while Kuldeep Yadav is a much-needed inclusion in the line-up. MS Dhoni will lead the pack and he will have the company of Virat Kohli as his deputy. The XI looks promising on paper and on any given day the line-up could comprehensively get the better of the opposition.

The 2013 IPL was one of the widely derided T20 competitions due to the fixing claims. There were casualties and Sreesanth was one of them. However, the pacer will be cleared to play as his 7-year ban will be over on September 13. He has been included in Kerala’s Ranji Trophy squad for the upcoming domestic season and it won’t be a surprise to see him make the ball talk again.
