There is a very serious chance that KL Rahul doesn’t play a single ODI in the upcoming ODI series against Australia. No, this has nothing to do with the talk-show ‘Koffee With Karan’ and our observation is purely based on the form KL Rahul is in.
By the looks of things, it is clear that Virat Kohli is looking at KL Rahul as the third/backup opener if he makes it to the flight to England as Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are set to occupy the opening spot yet again. While India did try KL at number 3 for a few games in the recent past, captain Virat Kohli is all set to play at 3 with Ambati Rayudu looking more than settled coming in at number 4.
Considering KL’s game is suited to not below number 4 and with only around 13 odd games leading up to the World Cup, the right-handed Kartanaka Born batsman might indeed miss all the games irrespective of his ban or not. Meanwhile, both the teams have stayed back at Sydney where the first ODI is set to take place on Saturday, 12th of January.
In a little bit of setback to the Indian Cricket Team, they were denied their practice session owing to a bit of rain and as a result, had to find a way to practice indoors. The Indian Cricket Team certainly start as overwhelming favourites to win this one but it would be interesting to see if the Aussies could salvage some pride and bounce back in the shorter format.
