The Covid-19 has burst the bubble that some athletes live in. Generally, professional sportspersons tend to think they’re immune from the day to day struggles of the common man and only focus on their performance, the next game, the next tour etc.
However, this highly mutant virus must have made them realise what it is to experience the sameer amount of difficulty as anyone else. Like us normal folk, cricketers are also forced to be confined to their homes and the rare free time has led many of them to interact with colleagues and fans on social media.
One such interaction took place between two Rajasthan Royals’ players, Ish Sodhi and Steve Smith. A very interesting headline came out from the tete-a-tete, Steve Smith much like former Australian Captain Steve Waugh put a Test series win in India on a pedestal.
The prolific right-hander in fact went to the extent of saying that people in Australian Cricket talk about the Ashes and World Cup as the epitome, but India is the number 1 test team in world and beating them in their own backyard is the toughest test.
All we can hope is for the World to become normal again and cricketing activity resume as soon as possible.
