India captain Virat Kohli’s cover drive is certainly therapeutic while his appetite for runs makes him a modern great. He has a penchant for playing some jaw-dropping shots but the aggressor in Kohli always hogs the limelight. Like many proven leaders of the past, Kohli’s instinct blended with aggression makes him a standout skipper.
And when we talk about aggression, a certain Indian pacer who goes by the name of S. Sreesanth can’t be far away. Now 37, the Kerala-born cricketer is well-known for his on-field antics- having a go at the batter and getting involved in verbal volleys. Interestingly, on most occasions the aggression paid rich dividend. During an interactive session with Ishan Sharma on Cric Crak Conversations, Sreesanth was asked to reflect on the scenario of him playing under captain Kohli.
Sreesanth on playing under Virat Kohli
“You made me emotional. It would be great to play under him. He is aggressive. I could actually lead from the front considering my age and experience. I am confident of doing well in domestic cricket. I don’t have a plan B, I have always believed in one plan. I believe in destiny and if the mind can be there, the body can as well.” Sreesanth opined.
The gates are open for Sreesanth to knock the national selectors door. He has been named in the Kerala Ranji Trophy squad and the upcoming season could be a make or break stint for him. He is currently serving a 7-year ban for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing during the 2013 season of the IPL. The ban will be lifted on September 13 ahead of the Indian domestic season. A match-winner on his day, Sreesanth has scalped 211 wickets from 73 First-class matches. His inclusion in the team augurs well for a unit like Kerala as they are eager to make their presence felt in the Indian domestic circuit.
