There are ideal 11’s, World 11’s, All time 11’s being picked up left right and centre these days and since there’s no cricket, we aren’t complaining as cricket fans because it gives us some more cricket to discuss. However, a current player, picking a current country 11 is not the norm, but Umesh Yadav went ahead and picket up his ideal Indian Test 11.
He shockingly, chose to leave India’s hero in the historic tour of Australia, Cheteshwar Pujara out of the team. While many in Australia including the world number 1 bowler, Pat Cummins recently spoke highly about Pujara, Umesh has gone ahead and left him out of the team. He also said that he would go for three seamers and it could be anyone out of the favoured foursome of Shami, Bumrah, Ishant and himself. He also chose both spinners in Jadeja and Ashwin, and advocated for the return of KL Rahul.
He went with the Karnataka duo of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul as his choice of openers. Interestingly, he had Rohit coming in at number 3, followed by Kohli and Rahane. For the wicket-keeper’s role he chose Saha over Pant, followed by Jadeja and Ashwin. He concluded his team with 3 fast bowlers, which could be any of the 4 mentioned above.
Umesh Yadav’s ideal Test 11 – KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli (c), Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ishant Sharma/Umesh, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah.
