Virat Kohli’s captaincy is not devoid of any deficiency and in fact many who understand the game will point to the fact that tactically he’s not up there with the best. However, what earns him more points than tactical captains is the fact that he leads by example and can solely lift the energy of the team. He will be happier than the bowler after he gets a wicket.
Kohli is generally the happiest person in the dressing room when someone else gets a hundred or brings up a milestone. The other credit that goes to him is the fact that he has single-handedly transformed the fielding and fitness culture in Team India. It’s true the MSD was the one who started the change, but Kohli has just made it an absolute priority.
Ravindra Jadeja is by far the best fielder in the Indian team and in fact might also be the best in the world. Watching Jadeja chase the ball in full flight, sliding and quick release in one motion is as good as watching a leg spinner in his element. Therefore when recently Star Sports asked fans to choose who has a more accurate throw between Jadeja and Kohli, Kohli himself was quick to cede ground to Jadeja.
