England won the toss on a bright and sunny day at Southampton but the Indian bowlers made sure that the Poms did not run away with any of the early advantage. Both the Indian opening bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma bowled quite accurately and gave away nothing to the Brits.
Yes, the ball did move around a bit but not as much for England to be 57-4 at the stroke of lunch. Jasprit Bumrah started the slide by removing Jennings with a peach of a delivery and Ishant followed it up by accounting for Root. Bumrah then continued to press the pedal as he accounted for Jonny Bairstow, thanks to the safe Rishabh Pant, who made no mistake behind the stumps.
Just when England would have expected things to get normal after an early bust by the openers, Hardik Pandya continued from where he left at Trent-Bridge. He bowled one which was going away from Cook, only for the former English Batsman to knick it to Virat Kohli who took a stunner of a catch at third slip. Low catches are always the most trick ones and Kohli made sure to set the standard for his boys for the rest of the game. Here is the entire video:
