Sachin Tendulkar is a man who writes his own scripts and is someone and he often proved to be balm to the everyday pain that the common man in India goes through. There are many examples of the Mumbaikar rising to the occasion and single-handedly taking his team across the finish line.

This one particular innings was more special than others and it was the perfect situation for that Master to step up and give some amount of joy to the nation and especially his hometown of Mumbai. The devastating 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai had just taken place and the England team led by Kevin Pietersen had been gracious enough to come back and play the test series in December.

The nation was hurting and licking it’s wounds after the attacks. Meanwhile, England had set India a mammoth fourth innings target of 387. On a turning and breaking Indian wicket it seemed like England would take the honours as far as the series was concerned. But as they say Cometh the hour, Cometh the champion, the Master rose up to the occasion and scored an unbeaten 100 to take India across the line and he later dedicated the knock to his fellow Mumbaikars.
