They say in life you will always find naysayers, but the tough aren’t broken by criticism, in fact they use it to their advantage. Muralitharan is the perfect story when it comes to proving his detractors wrong. The man who has the most number of wickets in both ODI’s and Tests is often not given the due respect.
We are living in the age where bowlers and especially spinners dominate in Asian conditions and as they go overseas they become no more than restrictive options. However, that wasn’t the case with the great Muralitharan. In fact his best test figures of 16/220 came at the Oval in 1998.

It was a solitary test that was historically won by Sri Lanka on the back of Murali magic. The off-spinner took 7 wickets in the first innings and had it not been for a run out, he could have taken all 10 in the second innings.
