Watch : The legendary Natwest Series Final in 2002
One of the most iconic images in the history of Indian cricket is that of Sourav Ganguly standing in Lord’s balcony and twirling his t-shirt, not caring about his chest air or gold chains on display. That was a landmark moment and marked the birth of a new and confident Indian team under Ganguly.
It was well and truly the coming of age of two young stars of Indian cricket, Yuvraj Singh and Mohammed Kaif. After losing half the team due to match fixing charges, Ganguly had invested and backed a group of 5-6 youngsters and that faith had been paid off.
India had a reputation of capitulating in the finals. Before the Natwest Finals, they had lost 9 straight finals and after England put a mammoth 325 on the board, it looked like another one went away from India. But the two youngsters had different plans and eventually India ended up lifting the trophy.
