Gautam Gambhir has always come across as an emotional being and a person who wears his heart on his sleeve. Recently the left hander has heaped praise on Anil Kumble and his style of captaincy. Even though the cricketer turned politician only played 6 Test matches under Anil Kumble, he found him to be the best captain.
The left hander was effusive in his praise for the leg-spinner and also went on to say that had the DRS existed in the Bangalorean’s era, he would have ended up with 900 wickets. Gambhir narrated an incident from the 2008 series against Australia that convinced him of Kumble’s man-management skills.
“Sehwag and I were having dinner when Kumble walked in and said that you guys will open throughout the series no matter what. Even if you get 8 ducks it doesn’t matter. I have never heard such words from anyone in my career. So, if I have to give my life for someone, it would be Anil Kumble. Those words are still in my heart,” Gambhir told SportsTak.
