Zaheer Khan has been one India’s greatest seam bowlers. His guile, seam position and ability to bowl a nagging line and length set him apart. He was once aptly termed as the ‘Sachin Tendulkar’ of the bowling line-up by Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Recently, Khan who has played under both Sourav Ganguly and MSD, pointed out a similarity in both great leaders.
Most Indian fans are divided as to who is the better skipper between Dada and Mahi. Some feel it is the Bengali that did the hardwork, the results of which were reaped later by Dhoni. Others just point out to the Ranchi man’s record. Zaheer who was a youngster under Sourav and an experienced pro under Dhoni, chose to point out the similarity between the two.
If the southpaw is to be believed, both great skippers of Indian cricket did a stellar job in grooming the youngsters. While Ganguly groomed the likes of Sehwag, Zaheer, Yuvraj and Harbhajan; Dhoni in the latter part of his captaincy helped shape careers of Jadeja and Ashwin. Zak felt this was an important trait in a good leader to take the team forward.
